Friendship Community is a
Christian nonprofit organization
that offers
residential services, training in daily living skills, and
social services to
people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Founded in 1972, through the efforts of
concerned parents and a local church group,
Friendship has the distinction of opening
Lancaster County's
first group
home for adults with developmental disabilities. Currently Friendship Community operates programs
in Lancaster
and Lebanon counties
in South Central Pennsylvania.

Programs:
Group/Community Home Living - Friendship
operates 20 homes throughout Lancaster County in towns including: Ephrata, East
Petersburg, Lancaster, Leola, Lititz, Manheim, Millersville, New Holland and
Oregon. Friendship also operates one home in Lebanon County.
Apartment and Independent Living -
Friendship supports
40
individuals rent apartments and become independent and self-supporting members
of the community.
Supervision tailored to fit the needs of each person
is provided by Friendship Community staff.
Lifesharing Program

Friendship matches individuals with families interested in
sharing their homes and daily lives.
Friendship staff provides support to the individual
and
family.
Home Based Services -
A Friendship staff member provides in-home assistance and support to families.
Other
Services Include: Activity and Game
Nights, WORDD (Worship Opportunities Reaching the Developmentally Disabled), the
heART of Friendship visual arts
program, soda vending employment
program,
Family Support Fellowship, Respite Care and Private Pay Services.
