Make a Difference in the Lives that Follow

Friendship Community is a partner of the Susquehanna Valley Planned Giving Council and a member of of the Leave a Legacy Lancaster program.

Reflect on your life values.  Think about what's important and the kind of legacy you want to leave.  Reflect on the people and organizations that have touched your life.  Consider the possibilities.  There is no mystery to charitable Planned Giving.  We invite you to talk with us about the opportunities that match your goals and to help you sort through the options.

Giving calculator
Mennonite Foundation invites you to explore the Legacy Calculator. It’s a great way for individuals and planned giving professionals to see exactly how various giving plans can help people be more generous.

Ten Things You Can Do to "Leave a Legacy"

  1. Prepare a will and leave a gift to Friendship Community.  Fewer than 10%  of Americans make arrangements for charitable bequests.  Imagine the impact if everyone made a modest donation to their favorite charity.

  2. Add to your existing will a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate to Friendship Community.

  3. Name Friendship Community as the beneficiary of your IRA or pension plan.

  4. Name Friendship Community as the beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy.

  5. Purchase a new life insurance policy naming Friendship Community as the beneficiary.

  6. Remember loved ones with memorial gifts to Friendship Community.

  7. Consider stock or other assets as gifts.

  8. Encourage family members and friends to leave gifts in their wills.

  9. Encourage your financial advisor to have information about Friendship Community in their files to use when other clients are looking for a charity to list as a beneficiary.

  10. Contact Milt Stoltzfus at 717-656-2466 ext 106 with your questions or visit The Mennonite Foundation to learn more about planned giving.

Mennonite Foundation is an agency of the Mennonite Church, but they work with people of all faiths. You may want to check if your denomination has its own charitable foundation.
