Friendship Community is a ministry of the Lancaster Conference of the Mennonite Church.  Our Board of Directors is largely Mennonite with other denominations represented.

Friendship staff make it possible for adults with developmental disabilities to live in the community. 

 Duties include:

Preparing meals          

• Assisting with personal care

• Light housekeeping  (bathing, dressing, etc.)

• Record keeping

• Transporting Individuals in agency vehicles

• Some positions require lifting and use of lifting equipment

• Assisting with everyday skills

On the job training provided

 Requirements for direct care positions:

Must be 18 years of age.

• A valid drivers license with a good driving record.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• A high school diploma or GED preferred. 

• Supervisory positions require post high school education.

Some Possible Positions:

FULL AND PART TIME ADVISORS- Be a positive role model to people with developmental disabilities. Valid driver's license required.  Training will be provided.  Contact Pat Wilkerson at 717-656-2466 ext 162.  



DROP IN NURSES- A RN or LPN who, at scheduled times, comes to the homes to administer medications and/ or treatments to the individuals.  Contact Pat Wilkerson at 717-656-2466 ext 162.

LIFE SHARING PROVIDERS  A Life-sharing host family invites an adult with developmental disabilities to move into their home to provide necessary care and to share their lives for a period of two years.  Life Sharing providers can be singles, couples or families.  Learn more Please contact Jen Strausser at 656-2466, ext. 161 if you desire to learn more or have any questions about this exciting ministry opportunity!  To view a brochure about Lifesharing click here.
