Founded in 1972, through the efforts of concerned parents and a local church group, Friendship has the distinction of opening Lancaster County’s first group home for adults with disabilities. Currently Friendship Community operates programs in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties in South Central, Pennsylvania and serves over 143 Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our Mission

Friendship Community is a non-profit, Christian ministry supporting adults with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties of South Central Pennsylvania.

From the formation of Lancaster County’s first group home for adults with disabilities in 1972, Friendship Community has evolved from serving 12 people to the present number of 141. Friendship Community has provided residential services and support services for Individuals and their families who desire a Christian program. Friendship Community offers a variety of services in keeping with the needs of the whole person. Activities are planned to provide stimulation for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of each person. As a faith-based organization, a Christian life-style is encouraged for both Individuals and Team Members at Friendship Community. All walks of faith are welcomed.
