Friendship Community’s 13th Annual Golf Classic proved a fantastic success! Over $31,000 was raised to support Individuals with developmental disabilities.
Thursday morning began cool and refreshing as the golfers arrived, registered, gathered their snacks and beverages and headed toward the fairway. The day warmed to a comfortable and sunny 88 degrees. Golfers finished their final shots and migrated to the pavilion where a delicious lunch was served.
This year, some additional challenges were added to the Tournament agenda to help even the most competitive golfers improve their odds. On Hole #6, golfers could pay to have the Club Pro to take the swing, and on Hole #14 (a par 5 hole), gentlemen could move up to the Forwarding (Ladies’) Tee to take the shot. Over $780 was raised on these two challenges alone.
Also, this year, a professional Car Wash & Vac service was added. Golfers could pay to have their vehicles pampered by JR’s Auto Recon while they played their rounds. An additional $400 was raised through this service.
The proceeds from this benefit event support Individuals and Programs not covered by county contracts including the Friendship Heart Gallery, Home Based Services, Lifesharing, Community Life, Spiritual Nurture and Respite Care.
Mark your calendars! Next year’s Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Foxchase Golf Club.
