Engagement and Events Coordinator

Position Overview: The Engagement & Events Coordinator is a pivotal member of the Advancement team at Friendship Community, responsible for driving fundraising initiatives to meet and exceed organizational goals. This role involves building and managing a robust donor portfolio, fostering relationships with individual and corporate donors, and implementing innovative strategies for donor engagement. The Engagement & Events Coordinator will plan, organize, and support key fundraising events while delivering compelling presentations that inspire financial contributions and align stakeholders with our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Donor Engagement, Fundraising & Event Planning:
    • Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual and corporate donors including identifying and networking with stakeholders to create a pipeline of supporters. Develop and manage donor portfolios through targeted outreach and personalized strategies.
    • Deliver dynamic presentations to potential donors, sponsors, and community groups to communicate impact and inspire giving.
    • Organize and support fundraising events, working with internal teams, volunteers and the broader community to ensure event success.
    • Support the curation of promotional materials, leveraging innovative marketing strategies (print, digital, media) to boost event visibility and participation.
    • Keen focus on customer service while keeping the individuals served at Friendship Community and Friendship Heart Gallery at the center of what we do.
  2. Public Outreach & Advocacy:
    • Serve as an ambassador for the organization’s mission by engaging with stakeholders, attending community events, and representing the organization in public forums.
    • Work with the Director of Advancement and team members to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
    • Keep a pulse on industry trends within the nonprofit sector and specifically in the community of serving those with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  3. Donor Data Management & Reporting:
    • Maintain donor records and track interactions using software.
    • Prepare and deliver regular reports on fundraising metrics, analyzing trends and adjusting strategies to meet or exceed set goals.
    • Coordinate in-kind donations and other related fundraising efforts.
  4. Collaboration & Support:
    • Work closely internally to ensure alignment of departmental goals.
    • Support other advancement initiatives, including community relations, major gifts, and special projects.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, development, event planning, or sales. A bachelor’s degree in a related field would be considered in place of direct experience.
  • Strong public speaking, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software (e.g., DonorPerfect), and email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, innovative, and able to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs. and endure periods of standing/walking at events.

The Engagement & Events Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Advancement with office hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. There is the anticipation of this role spending 40% of their time in the community networking and fostering relationships that support the job description to ensure departmental goals are met.
