What is Meaningful Day Academy?

Meaningful Day Academy (MDA) is a licensed Adult Training Facility, which means we provide community participate supports, day programming activities, provision of functional activities, assistance in meeting personal needs, and assistance in performing basic daily activities. 

When does MDA operate?

MDA is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We close for national holidays, staff training events, and inclement weather. 

What is Friendship Community?

Friendship Community is a Christian ministry cultivating capabilities of individuals with developmental disabilities in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties of South Central Pennsylvania since 1972. 

Who can attend MDA?

Any individual over age 21 who has been diagnosed with a developmental and/or intellectual disability and receives Waiver or ICF funding for services. Attendance inquiries must be communicated by a Supports Coordinator and service provision must be approved before anyone can attend MDA. 

How can I help MDA?

By volunteering your time and/or donating supplies for our activities! 

What does a typical MDA day look like?

No two days are the same! Some days include baking and decorating hundreds of cupcakes. Other days include creating crafts. Sometimes we build skills and volunteer in the community. Still other days might include singing, dancing, and recreation! 

How much does it cost for admission to Meaningful Day Academy?

There are no admission fees if one is eligible for and receiving government funding for support. There may be admission fees for private pay services. 

Do people who attend MDA receive a paycheck?

MDA is an Adult Training Facility, which means individuals who attend receive support for their basic needs and receive training for skill building and meaningful daily activities and community participation. Individuals who attend MDA are not at work and, therefore, will not receive compensation.
