For supporting our annual Irvin C. Enck Memorial Golf Tournament - one of our most fun fundraising events of the year! The weather was a beautiful and slightly breezy 75 degrees which made for perfect golf weather. Friendship Community's CEO, Mary Ellen Farber, gave the opening remarks before all of the golfers started with their shotgun scramble. We were blessed to welcome 106 golfers and thankful they spent their morning with us. Friendship Community Individuals Tracy and Doreen rode around the course with their Team Members to meet and greet while Individual Deb hung out near the putting green to help sell raffle tickets and golf balls for our Golf Ball Drop.
Once all golfers were finished up with their round, everyone headed to the pavilion to have the Golf Ball Drop, sponsored by Blue Ridge Communications, winner announced. Four Friendship Community Team Members each held a basket with numbered golf balls and rolled them towards the 18th hole. While no golf balls went in this year, we want to congratulate golf ball #31 for being the closest to the hole and winning the $200 cash prize! The winner has been notified and collected their winnings and has decided to donate the prize back to the Organization. Immediately following that, all participants got to hear a special program hosted by Milt Stoltzfus where he interviewed Individuals Deb, Josh and Tracy, and showed exactly where their support goes - to these incredible Individuals. Be it through our residential services or day services, all of the monies raised through this event go to support the many Individuals of Friendship Community.
This year, with the support of our generous sponsors Ames Construction, Ames Mechanical and Eby Exteriors, we were able to offer our first ever free putting contest where each golfer got to compete for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to the Fox Chase Pro Shop. Everyone who putted also received a complimentary sleeve of golf balls. At the end of the program with Milt, Joel Zeiset of Eby Exteriors presented a hat with six names in it to Individual Tracy to pull from for the winner of the putting contest - congratulations to Chris Shearer for winning!
While lunch was being served, raffle winners were selected with the winning ticket taped in front of each bag, and golf winners were announced with prizes being handed out. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and dessert buffet before heading out from an early but immensely fun day. We are so thankful for everyone who golfed, bought golf balls, bought raffle tickets, volunteered, sponsored and supported this event in any way. We could not support the many Individuals of Friendship Community without your generous assistance as we have the ever-increasing shortfall of government funding to actual cost of services. Please consider golfing with us next year and look out for our next events:
