POST FEST & 5K

Thank You...

For supporting the 31st Annual FEST & 5K • 10K - one of our biggest fundraisers of the year! The weather was absolutely beautiful and we were excited to have our highest number of 5K • 10K Run, Walk & Wheel participants to date at 265! We were blessed to not only have a lot of runners from the community join us, but also for many of our individuals and team members from the residential homes come out and enjoy themselves. Immediately following the 5K • 10K, we once again held our awards ceremony to congratulate the winners of each age group! If you haven't already seen the 5K • 10K results, please click the button below to view them! Then, after the awards ceremony, we are able to hold the Kids Fun Run! About 15 kids lined up to run on our main campus near the start of the 5K • 10K and 1 mile course. And while the grass may have been a little wet, that didn't stop the speed of the kids as they raced around the oval.

Before the 5K • 10K started, our 31st Annual FEST began at 7am with the delicious pancake breakfast sponsored by Oregon Dairy! At 8 am plant sales, family activities, raffles, wagon rides, bounce house, tie dye and Friendship Heart Gallery sales began. Our plant section was filled to the brim with beautiful flowers, hanging baskets, houseplants, vegetables and shrubs donated by various greenhouses throughout Lancaster County (please see the list below of the very generous greenhouses who donated!). The family activities area was filled with excitement as we were once again able to have Papa Tater back this year to perform an incredible magical experience for kids of all ages. We were also elated to once again be able to invite Joyful Canvas back to create beautiful works of art for both kids and adults to enjoy! Also inside the family activities area was the corn activity table, tie dye, and friendship bracelet crafting, and the candy scramble. We are very thankful for Eric Long for donating his tractor, wagon, and time to make the wagon rides happen! The raffle area contained 3 separate raffle prizes including and two separate cornhole sets painted by heart artists at the E. Oregon Studio and a large acrylic canvas painting by various heart artists. All winners have been notified and prizes have been picked up. The Friendship Heart Gallery area had beautiful original paintings by the heart artists, greeting cards, jewelry and Primitives by Kathy items!

At 9am, the bingo started up and came to life with individuals, team members and community members paying close attention to hear their numbers being called so they could potentially go home with one of 30 different donated baskets containing a large variety of goods and various gift certificates. We want to say thank you to everyone who donated a prize for this game!

Also at 9am, the food trucks were ready to provide a variety of different foods to the hungry guests. We want to thank Joe on the Go Coffee Co, Cupcakes by Casey, Lickity Split Ice Cream Truck, Little Cotton Cart, Gio's Smokin' Grill, Traveling J's and Rad-ish for coming out! We are so thankful for the community for supporting these small business food trucks!

We can't thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting this fundraiser - it means more to us that we can express. As an organization that relies on the generous donations of our supporters, we were blown away by the amount of people who came out and showed us that we have such an amazing community behind us. We couldn't do what we do without all of you and we appreciate all of it from the bottom of our hearts. Please keep an eye out for more fundraising opportunities for Friendship Community and we hope to see everyone at next year's FEST (date TBD)!
